Privacy Policy

Effective October 14, 2026

Beam is an app for two people: a few seconds of your partner, on your Home Screen. This policy says what Beam stores about you, why, who else is involved, and how to get rid of it. Beam is run by 10xApps, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at dauletkaliuly@gmail.com.

The short version: Beam has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. We do not sell or share your data for advertising. What you send goes to one person — your partner — and is stored so that it can reach them.

What we store

Your account

Your pair

What the two of you send

We store these so that they reach your partner and stay in your thread. We do not look at them, except a message someone reports to us (below).

Your devices

Reports

If either of you reports a message, we keep the report: who reported it, who sent it, the reason chosen, and a copy of the message's text (or a reference to its photo or video) so we can review it. Reports are reviewed by a person. A report is kept after the message or the account is deleted, for as long as we need it to deal with the report and keep people safe.

What we do not collect

No location, no contacts, no advertising identifier, no analytics or crash reporting from third parties. We do not store what you search for in the sticker sheet; those words go to GIPHY only (below). Our server's request logs record which part of the service was called, the result and how long it took; they do not record your IP address or who you are. Your IP address is used for a moment to limit abuse (for example, too many attempts at a pairing code) and is not stored by Beam. The web server in front of Beam may keep IP addresses in short-lived access logs for security.

Camera, microphone, photos and notifications

Beam asks for the camera and microphone so you can record something for your partner, for your photo library so you can pick something to send, and for notifications so you know when something arrives. Each is your choice, can be changed in iOS Settings, and is used only when you are doing that thing. Nothing is recorded or uploaded unless you send it.

Who else is involved

We use a few providers to run Beam. They process data on our behalf and only to provide their service:

Stickers from GIPHY

Beam's editor offers stickers from GIPHY (GIPHY, Inc., a Shutterstock company). When you open the sticker sheet or search it, your phone asks GIPHY directly — not through our servers — for trending stickers or for the words you typed, and downloads the stickers it shows you — including, from GIPHY's servers, the full-size sticker you pick. GIPHY therefore receives those search words, which stickers your phone downloaded, and your phone's IP address, as any website you visit would. We send GIPHY nothing that identifies you or your account: no name, no account, and no device or advertising identifier. GIPHY handles what it receives under its own privacy policy, at giphy.com/privacy. If you never open the sticker sheet, nothing is sent to GIPHY.

Encrypted backups of the database and stored media are kept on a backup machine we operate ourselves. We share nothing with anyone else, except where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app: tap the settings button at the top of your thread, then Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: there is no waiting period, and no way to get the account back.

When you delete your account, we remove from our servers:

We also ask Apple to revoke Beam's access to your Apple ID.

If you were paired, your partner's pairing ends and their app is told to clear your thread and their widget. They are not told why. What their phone already downloaded, saved or captured is on their device, not on our servers, and deleting your account cannot reach it. From a pair that had already ended before you deleted, what your partner sent is theirs and stays until they delete their own account.

Two things outlast deletion: a report someone made about one of your messages (above), and our encrypted backups, which still hold a copy of what was on our servers until those backups expire. The oldest are kept for six months. They are used only to recover our servers from a failure.

Your rights

You can see and change your name and photo in the app, and delete your account there at any time. You can also write to dauletkaliuly@gmail.com to ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. We will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Where the law asks for a legal basis: we process your account, your pair and what you send because you asked us to — it is what Beam is (performance of a contract). We keep reports and request logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Beam safe and running.

Children

Beam is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 16 is using Beam, write to us and we will delete the account.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters to how your data is used, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
